details, details

It's been awhile since my last blog, but I went to visit my parents and for the moment, my mom is visiting us. So, it's been busy and a pleasure to do some nice things together.
I have looking at details lately, doorknobs and the finishing touches on things. Small things that make your house so personal and special. Candles are a favourite of mine, especially Dyptique candles, but also flowers and nice linens and bed sheets can really make my home 'my home'.

I have also seen some beautiful armchairs lately...but, no, with our little boy of 2, it's better to keep our Ikea sofa's for awhile more and just wash the slipcovers! his little fingers seem to touch everything these days, and I am moving objects all the time.
You have to be creative, and change is good in a home.

I've also bought some fresh white flowers for my nightstand, for a very luxury feeling. It's the details that make your home...

Simple pleasure

The new week has just started and I have already done a ton of things. The weekend was filled with activities and work has been busy. Whenever things get busy and stressful I long for calm moments at home. The simple pleasure of a bath, a pretty display and some cozy touches around me can really help you relax a little.

I have added some pictures of things that really inspire me and that make me want to order and decorate my home.
Beautiful china, fresh soap and a yummy breakfast. I always love preparing a nice breakfast since that's the best way to start a day.
I wish you all a great weekend full of simple pleasures ;-)

sunshine in our home

Today, I show you some pictures of the cushions I have made myself for our sofa. You have to understand I am not good with my sewing machine at all! I really tried the basic pillow, but I am happy it's something that succeeded quite well and I am really trying to become better.

I also have indulged in some nice magazines lately and a new book on beautiful fabrics. I just love reading about interior and looking at the inspiring photos. The white roses are a Valentine gift from my husband. He knows I prefer white over red! and that's why I was so suprised and happy that he remembered that ;-)

Don't you love this picture of this cheerful kitchen, so light and happy looking!

I wish you all a sunny and great weekend!

white and colour

another day of sunshine, how good that feels. I have been going through my home lately and I see that the colour white remains my favourite decorating colour. I like to add touches of other colours, some earth tones, some soft neutrals, but mainly I like white to be the base.
I also added some soft pink roses here and there, which makes a nice combination with the white, don't you think?

in a month or two, I will start my spring cleaning, can't wait to open my windows and doors and let some fresh air in. For now it's still a bit chilly here, so I enjoy the sun from behind my window.

I also still have my 'Traditional Scone Mix' on my shelf, but I haven't yet had the time to try it... maybe this coming weekend? well, it also looks nice on my shelf!

Then there is a photo of a sneak peak in my kitchen cabinet. The ' Chocolat Chaud' mugs are from Riviera Maison, and I think they look so snug and winterish in my cupboard ;-)
wish you all a nice sunny day,

weekend and family

My parents-in-law are here for the weekend, so that means, we are having nice dinners and some extra sleep in the morning :-)
This weekend I want to rest some, since I have been so busy at work lately. The world of interiors and home, keep inspiring me, but sometimes when you are tired, you need to try something new and refreshing.

I must stay that there has been quite some sun today and that makes your home so light and lovely. I have also bought some roses for the kitchen table and some tulips for the livingroom, really cozy looking.
Tomorrow we will probably hop into town, run some errands and maybe I will get some ideas along the way...
I've added some pictures, which reminds me that spring is not too long away, enjoy...

I wish you all a nice weekend with lots of good food and rest!

hugs,

me, my shopping and my home...

dille & kamille

I have gone shopping again...and even though I really have tried as a new year's resolution, to spend a bit more money on myself, I just end up spending it on my interior... I just love to buy for my house. (since your house never has a bad hairday and it never seems tired or pale looking ;-) so I confess to have bought 6 little plates for breakfast, some placemats and a tablecloth, from Dille & Kamille.
When I came from work this afternoon, I decided to take a warm bath and to just soak for awhile and let my mind wonder...and dream. Since I have my colour card from 'Painting the Past' which makes beautiful chalk paints, I have thought about the new colours I'd love to paint the rooms in and about the floors and the furniture. I could go on, and on. For now, I will just enjoy my new things and tomorrow is a new day to get fresh ideas.

I wish you all a very nice end of week.

It's cold and we need some tea

pictures: dille & kamille

It's cold. Really cold. My hubby, my son and me went for a walk this morning and it was freezing, so I was dreaming of having a high tea. But because time didn't allow it, I was already content to just have my cup of tea this afternoon, which was definitely what I needed.
Here are some photos of beautiful things, that inspire me to prepare a nice afternoon tea with some friends. Or just a pretty tea set to make my house look cozy. I will try to buy the blue tablecloth one of these days. Teapots, cups, some fresh flowers, bring instant atmosphere!

I hope all of you enjoyed the weekend. It's February, some more cold months to go, but I'm sure our homes will be warm and cozy inside.

Have a great week!

Solange xx!
