Australia

I got a subscription in February for 'Australian Country Style'. I like to read magazines from all over the world, and since I had tried a Scandanavian magazine for 1 year, it was time to try something new, different. I wasn't getting new ideas and maybe I am wanting more then the 'all white' style.
Now, today came my first issue.....I can tell you that this magazine is definitely an inspiration, full of articles and pictures of beach homes, cottages, country style: yes, different: yes, but not only interior, it's also packed with beauty, fashion and recipes! very fresh and cool!
Of course county style can be defined in many ways and luckily we can give a personal twist to our own 'country style' at home, with this magazine it shouldn't be too hard to get ideas.

Wish you all a happy, sunny weekend!

Springcleaning

Yes, it was time for springcleaning this weekend.... we did so many things. I must admit that we have a cleaning lady who comes once a week for 4 hours to clean, but this weekend, we did all the other things, like organizing your books, clothes, we threw away what we didn't need anymore, we build a cupboard and we oiled our oak floor....what a job....
We cleaned carpets, ordered toys, and more. The picture of the cupboard is in my hobbyroom, it was such a mess, with things laying everywhere, that I just realised I needed a place to store my things. There were pieces of fabric, canvasses for painting, books and a sewing machine... I guess this must sound very familiar to you.
Now, I can relax and sit back. I am very happy with the result, a clean house gives you a clean head and more calmth.

I also added a picture, of the spring roses, the honey and cake which are really enjoyable after a weekend full of chores. I do hope you all enjoy the beginning of spring. It really is my favourite time of the year.

Enjoy your week girls!

weekend, books and sunshine

Yes, indeed, a better day today and I mean, inspiration wise. I have been raving about my (another) new book. It's called 'The new eighteenth century style'. A beautiful book, full of interiors of different people and wonderful estates and appartments.
It's not really for people who love 'all white' interiors, it's a beautiful combination of antiques and brocante, and charm.

I also painted our hallway on the 2nd floor. It was salmon....so awful, but when we moved in, it wasn't our first priority, so we didn't get to change it yet. It took me some time, but managed to paint it. I used 'Old white' from Farrow and Ball. Lovely paint, matt and rich in colour.

Slowly, I am getting my inspiration back, a few weeks ago I was not so happy, but now I am. thanks to my books and the sun for sure! My ideas and inspiration are back.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend girls, to all of you wherever you are in this world :-)

New reading material

Yes, it's time for a new book again. This time I want to share with you 'Esprit de Famille' a lovely book full of images and text on how to make the many things for your home. It also includes patterns and some websites.
The book is not for the beginning seamstress like me, because I find it quite hard to make something, but it's nevertheless a charming book full of warm pictures.

Just to give you a sneak peak:

I soon have ( I know, I know...) another book coming, but I will reveal that one later ;-)

enjoy your week,
Solange

kitchen corner

I have been working on the kitchen corner. There was an empty wall, which looked a little sad, so I painted 2 Ikea shelves and my sweet husband fixed them for me. I have decorated it with little things and some candlelight for a cosy corner effect. Yes, I think I did well, and it makes it stand out a bit.
I admit that lately I have been busy and lacking inspiration, I just thought about stopping my blog, but on the other hand, I do enjoy visiting you all and sharing my little projects with this amazing blog community. I guess it's normal to once in a while loose your inspiration, I have been reading a lot and watching period movies, oh, I do so enjoy that!

I have noticed that there are tulips comming up all over my garden, I guess the previous owners planted them everywhere....it looks cheerful and nice, just what I need these days.

wish you all a wonderful rest of the week,
Solange
