happy me

The sun is shining and it makes me happy...

photo:solange

What a nice and sunny afternoon it was... I couldn't help feeling like spring started, again... I was in town with my other half and son, finding a lovely book, called 'High tea' by Susannah Blake, which completely made me feel like having some tea and preparing all kinds of delicious things. I will of course let you know when I have tried one of her recipes!

Tonight we have 2 couples coming over for dinner, and I prepared bolognese sauce and pasta, then some pancakes and icecream with whipped cream, yes, I am in the mood for some good, comfort food. The table is set with my nice linens and special cutlery. What a pleasure it is, to set a table for friends and to enjoy the atmosphere.

I hope you all enjoy the weekend and do enjoy your homes!

Being home again

Don't you think this corner looks cozy?

Easter has passed and it was a good few days of holiday. It was very enjoyable in France, eating lots of chocolate and cookies, seeing my family, even doing some shopping with my sister.
The days were freezing cold and we had lots of snow, it even looked a bit like christmas... but being home always make me very happy and I missed visiting your blogs. Thank you all for the nice reactions I had on my last blog, it makes my days so good!

I found a lovely, country style hook in France, don't you like the colour of it? My darling sister bought me a nice glass pot with a cover which has this silverish knob on it. I use it for my candles now, but I think I will put it in my bathroom soon, to fill it with soaps or cotton sticks. Very chic!

My mother-in-law gave me a silver plate, which goes with a teapot I have. It's really big and beautiful, and for the moment I use it in the livingroom. It's nice to use things for different purposes, don't you think? Just to change a bit.

In our livingroom, my husband keeps some old books in his bookcase and I thought it would be nice to put them on display. Old books have got something charming, and mysterious about them. I think they look very special.

I will go on now, to order my house a bit and I wish you all a great week!

happy Easter!

Hi Girls, this will be my last post until after Easter. Next week I'll post again, but we're are leaving for France.
You know when you pack, and there are half packed suitcases, clothes, items all over the house... well, I admit to being a bit chaotic at the moment, so I thought, one thing at the time. The last days have been very busy and at work things were a bit much, so I am really looking forward to enjoying a well deserved break!

Some pictures here, are of the latest issue of Vakre Hjem & Interior, a norwegian magazine, filled with oh so many beautiful pictures. I can just look at them, over and over again. I apologize that the pictures aren't very good quality, next time I will use a scanner.
Isn't it strange how some magazines make you want to redecorate your own home? Soon I will share some more pictures of my home with you, but until then, I wish you all a happy Easter and do enjoy all the chocolate eggs ;-)

soft touches

I went through my linen cupboard, to be suprised by the things I have collected. The soft touches of materials and the colours, make me feel 'at home'. I usually buy the same kind of colours for my wardrobe as for my home, isn't that funny?
Here I show you some of my things I keep in the drawer of my chest. I do use them at home, but not as often as I'd like, since our little man at home, will pull on anything he sees and leaves his little fingerprints everywhere! I think in spring I will use them more outside on a table outside for a garden dinner. can't wait....

My next goal is to order the things in a pretty way. Some things in your home, just can't look good, like for example folders or paperwork and cables. But if you hide them in pretty boxes, tidy them in drawers, it all looks a lot better!

This Friday we leave for France, for our Easter break. I am looking forward to see my some family again and I will hopefully be able to shop a bit and maybe even find some things for the home.
I wish you all a very nice day and take care,

Solange

Country homes & a cold

Sniff, Sneeze and tissues....Yes, I've got another cold. So, as usual when I have a cold, I stock up on magazines, tea with honey and a blanket. Isn't it strange that when we feel sick or cold, our homes mean even more to us to give us comfort and protection?
The last days, my parents have been visiting and it's always funny to see how amazed they are at my growing number of interior magazines, accessories and ideas laying around.
My sister send me a beautiful collection of pictures today by post, which she has collected just for me! isn't that sweet?
She knows how much I love to see all these ideas which inspire me for myself, but also to share on my blog with you all.

On this post, I will share some nice pictures from the magazine 'Country homes & interiors' which I bought yesterday. Lovely pictures of country homes, warm shades and lots of light. I can just dream of my own little country cottage one day...
I wish you all a nice sunday and enjoy yourselves,

Solange xx

Thank you

Thanks to all of you who always leave me friendly and kind messages. They really mean something to me, knowing that we appreciate and enjoy eachother's blogs and having made so many friends online.
A few days ago I received a 'spread the love' award from Marie of the lovely blog blasse-vielfalt a real inspiration. The comments you leave Marie are always so friendly and kind, you are one of my favourite.
I also want to thank Aina, from Modern country This blog is so beautiful and Aina creates lovely things all handmade. I am happy we met Aina, we seem to have much in common!
There are so many more who make my days happier, with lovely comments and just some kind words. Thank you all :-)
A special thank you goes out to my sister Romina, who's been very helpful these days and a real support.

My pot with my new little plant in it, on my wooden tray.

The days have been rainy here and grey, but it hasn't stopped me from putting some nice plants in my pots at home and to keep the house light. I also just want to share some nice pictures, just simple things which look nice.

I wish everybody, a really good week and thanks again!

weekend at last...

The weekend has started. Friday is my favourite evening of all, knowing you still have the whole weekend in front of you and you can just relax with a nice dinner and a glas of wine.
Look what a candle holder I found. It's so light and gives a romantic feeling to my kitchen shelf. I've also bought some empty grayish pots, which I will soon fill with some plants or flowers.
Then I received my new 'Ariadne at Home' magazine, which I adore, but I decided to keep it for after my chores, so that it will be a real treat. I also bought the 'Homes & Antiques' magazine today, which I don't get very often, but I thought it would be nice to read for the weekend.

This weekend, administration will done. It's not my favourite thing to do, but I need to clean up the piles I have created... then I will change our bedsheets and put some new, fresh bedlinen which makes me so happy at the end of the day.
I haven't really gotten started with any Easter decorations, for the moment I am browsing a bit.

Wish you girls all a wonderful weekend, full of inspiration, joy and good food & company ;-)

A new week

A new day, a new week. I added some pictures of my new coathanger, it's been bought at a nice little store and I think it has a real country-chic look. I don't use it for the moment, but I want to use it in our new home, which we haven't found yet.
The picture of the cupboard is such an inspiration for me, I love it, so cozy and nice to display your things.
