Another week has passed. It was busy and we got a lot of things done for the house. I feel relieved that most of the dates are known and that I can finally think on how to order the furniture. Of course it's not the most important, but for me it is! I am busy with colours and details, fabrics and measuring...
My husband gave me a wonderful paint samples book of Flamant, it's incredible, it has 160 colours, all painted on small pieces of paper, so you can get a real impression of the colour, instead of a printed colour, which is always different on the wall.
As you can see, I love the greyish colours, they are so beautiful. I have to think well, in which room will be painted in what colour.photo:solange
The sun had been away for while, but I noticed that the it's getting warmer again and this weekend should be 23 degrees, that makes me happy.
This weekend we will go on for our search and enjoy hopefully food and a movie. In July I will be off for 2 weeks and then another month later on, can't wait!
My husband sees me going through piles of magazines these days....showing him things and saying 'this I like' and 'how about this?' it's funny, he knows I am always full of ideas.photo:solange

Which shade of white....?
photo: Allinwood
It's been one choice after another this week... What kind of door we want, which colour for the sofa, were to keep the laundry, and my most difficult question : which shade of white??
I love white, but I know there is a big choice and lots of different shades. I have got 'paper white' of Paiting the Past in my head, or maybe 'historical white'. Maybe should take something more creamish white? You know that sometimes things can get too white, so I am really a bit confused.
If any of you have got a good experience with a shade of white, your advise is most welcome!

My head is full of ideas, and I am slowly realizing that in a 2 or 3 months, our new house will be our home. That moving your furniture, your personal things, is a process. I am throwing away things, but also finding things and realizing that I have a lot more then I knew...
I wish you all a very happy weekend, do take care and enjoy it!

Another sunny weekend
Another week has passed and lots of things have been prepared, done and chosen for our new home....photo:solange
hey girls, what luck we have to be enjoying all this sunshine! It's wonderful how the light changes everything and everybody!
This week, we've bought for our little boy a table and 2 chairs from Ikea, which I want to paint in a nice chalky paint. Either a greyish blue or a warm white. photo:solange
We have also had a look at our future floor and we decided to go for an oiled, light oak parket. I have shared some pictures with you, so you can get an idea. I hope I make the good choice!
But wood has been a must for me, I have been looking forward for years to have wooden floors, they make every house look warmer and better I think.
The breakfast table this morning, with fresh scones, muffins, tea and coffee. I love to set a nice table, my little one is walking around and doesn't see the difference between white plates or plastic children's plates.. :-)
I also want to say thank you to the blog Pienta Ja Kaunista , she has such a lovely blog and her pictures inspire me very much. photo:solange
I wish you all a wonderful long weekend, we are Monday off, because of Whitsun. (pentecost)
take care!

organizing, dreaming and lots more
photo:solange
Lately I've been so busy, organizing, doing research, making lists, and dreaming a bit about our new house. I realize there is a lot to do and to think about!
We went to Ikea and to stores to inform about the wooden floors, and I am sitting in the evenings, with books filled with colours for the walls, ideas I have collected over the years and well, as you all do as well, the things you cut out or you keep just because you might want them one day... I realize I have to choose, because there are so many choices, from doorknobs, to paint, to floors, and it's hard if you are like me and like a lot... photo:solange
I hope you all enjoyed these sunny days, here the sun is shining today and it makes my world seem so much brighter and nicer. Sorry, I haven't updated my blog so much lately, but things are a bit chaotic at the moment, I will keep you all updated of course. photo:solange
The pictures of today, are the mirrors in my livingroom. I love the way the white looks agains the wall colour. The other picture shows what our sofa looks like these days...full of books, magazines and colour samples.
I wish everybody a really good weekend, enjoy yourselves and do take care.

Finally, we found a new home!
photo: special wonen engelse stijl
Finally....after looking for so long, and knowing that you always have to compromise, we found a new home. That means, I am moving and we will be very busy starting from mid June. I am so looking forward, finally I can start to put my ideas to practise and get out all the pictures I have been saving for years, to get inspired again. photo:special wonen engelse stijl
I know also that it get can very busy, and stressful and I am hoping my husband and I will stay cool, since I heard so many stories on how works can make you crazy.... Since there is quite some work to be done (new kitchen, new floors, tear down a fireplace..)
Moving home is exiting and scary in the same time.
This week will be filled with talks, plans and dreams of how our home, dreaming is of course the best part.
I wish you all a very good weekend, enjoy yourselves and do take care!

We'll always have Paris...
photo:solange
We had a wonderful break in Paris, 4 days of shopping, museums and really a lot of nice food... My favourite part was our trip to Versailles, not so much the Palace, but the beautiful gardens and of course, the domain of Marie-Antoinette. It was so calm and peaceful in the gardens and I just wished we could have stayed a little longer. photo:solange
The strange thing is, that for once I did some shopping for myself! I usually buy lots things for the house and I only go to interior shops, but this time I bought myself a party dress, a pair of shoes, and accessories. It was so nice to just get some things, and take the time to look for clothes.
We ate macaroons at Ladurée and we walked till our feet hurt. It was really very enjoyable. My husband and I were happy to return home to our little boy, who we missed after 2 days, but I can tell you that some days away in two, really is good for a couple once in awhile! photo:solange
I will soon be back, but I have to first order my home a bit, the luggages are emptied and I started my work again today, which is always a bit hard after having been away, but well, I am full of energy again, and if we ever get tired, bored or need some inspiration, then we'll always have Paris...
take care girls and enjoy your week, wherever you are.

A few days to Paris
photo;solange
Tomorrow me and my husband will be going to Paris for a short break. We stay there until saturday evening and then we still have the sunday to relax to return to work on Monday. The grandparents came all the way from France to watch our little boy.
I'm very exited, since we will also visit Versailles and hopefully I will run into some interior shops and lovely things. You never know... Last weekend, I saw that I still had some lavender water for my laundry in my cupboard, so I thought, even if I don't use it so often, the bottle looks like a decoration, just by itself!photo:solange
Here the sun is shining and I hope that also for you all the sun will shine the next days. I will be back to check your blogs soon, as well as to update mine with news from Paris!
wish you all a nice week girls!
take care,
Solange
