Here comes the sun....and some flowers too!

Finally some sunshine...How different the world can look with a bit of light. I have been making a pillow from a piece of fabric of Laura Ashley, which gives immediately more colour and gives a cottage feel.
The garden has been decorated with some flowers and I discovered the Laura Ashley garden collection, which is so lovely, the garden boots are so feminine and their gloves, aprons, it all makes you feel like working in de garden (even though my garden is not so big...).

We also bought a new bed, which makes me happy, since I wanted something completely different, first I opted for white but than I thought that a dark bed with a lot of white around, is also very elegant and special. So, now I am busy redecorating our bedroom, which is very nice.

Yesterday I found a new treasure which I will share soon with you, but for now I will continue with my home and wish you all a sunny day!

How much choice we have...

picture: Oka

Sometimes when you try to find the right objects for your home, you don't find anything but when you are not looking, it seems to me that you usually bump in to them.
Last week, I ordered this lovely new quilt for my bed. It is from Oka a lovely british store, which unfortunately is only available online for me, so I couldn't resist the temptation... The quilt is white, with a beautiful repetitive pattern which gives my bed class and comfort.

The beautiful flowers come from my sister, for my birthday last week, and the piece of fabric you can see on the picture is a left over I found from Laura Ashley. I love to buy some small pieces of tissue and thinking of ways what I can do with it.

I visit all of you, but don't always have the time to leave a comment, but love all of your posts, so interesting and full of inspiration.

enjoy the nice days and take care.

reading, watching, enjoying

I have ordered some new coffee table books, I know I already have enough books and magazines around me, but the temptation to sit and read some more is sometimes stronger than myself.
This time I found the lovely 'Perfect english cottage' and 'Simply Country' both have great photographs and really show the cosy cottage interiors.
We are off work for some days, so I will be more than happy to browse through the pages, hopefully visit some old bookstores, to look for old engravings and pictures.

enjoy the days everybody!

Once I start, I can't seem to stop...

I have sewing last weekend again, it started with a little pillow, than a handkerchief holder and now, I have ordered more fabric from Cabbages and Roses, to keep the projects going! Since the weather is back to cold and rain, it's a good excuse to keep internal projects going.

Cabbages and Roses really is my point of inspiration at the moment, their colours and prints are amazing.

enjoy the week everybody!

moving furniture...

I have been moving furniture...always thinking of how to change our livingroom and give it a different look. know that Trish of the lovely blog Trouvais tagged me, so I chose some recent photos. The first picutre, is of my trip to Italy 2 weeks ago, which has given me a lot of inspiration, the scents, the buildings, the views, just lovely.
I also baked cakes lately, see picture below, and we are starting some big works in our house soon, so I am busy, busy...
Spring is here, and I hope the sun chooses to stay a bit more, as I thoroughly enjoy the weather as it is.

spring in my home

Back from my trips to Paris and Italy. It was lovely and of course enjoyed food and just being away from home for awhile.
At home spring has really started and I feel as though I need to change, scrub, air and wash everything. I am waiting for some
more sun and milder weather, to open the windows and feel some warmth.

We are having some work done in our home, since the 2nd floor in our house is not straight and they have to straighten the floor, I already see the dust and mess but I am looking forward to a straight floor. We also have plans to redo our bathroom and my significant other has bought some tile paint, to cover the not so charming tiles the previous owners left us.
I find a decorating wonderful, but it seems that the bathroom is not so easy to get done right.

I made the eucalyptus crown myself, and it gives the room a lovely rustic, calm look.

well, I wish you all a lovely weekend and enjoy your interiors.

back from Paris

and happy to be home. Paris was as usual gorgeous, but a little rainy. We saw such beautiful things, but the highlight of the entire trip was to see Le Nozze di Figaro, in the Royal Opera in the castle of Versailles no less! Lovely seating, the opera hadn't been officially used for the last 250 years. In 1770 it was used to celebrate the wedding of Marie-Antoinette to Louis XVI.
It was just magical, especially during the pause, I thought to venture a little around to see what I could see of the Versailles castle at night, I went to see the royal chapel at night with nobody around, it was a bit off the opera, it was so quiet and not one tourist, I just had this moment for myself, which was a very special experience.

I also went to the Louvre, again, and well, of course to shop a little. You can't go to Paris and not shop...

Take care, and I wish everybody a nice week!
