How it all began...

I did my first 'decorating project' around age 10. I was always moving furniture in my room, than in my teens painting the walls and spending my pocket and babysitting money on furniture and tissues instead of going out.
Even when I was pregnant, I was still pushing the sofa's, putting up the Christmas tree when I was 2 weeks from my due date (considering I took 23 kilo's that was quite a challenge!!) and just enjoying my home.
This weekend I have been ordering and less decorating, since my husband and I are in two, our son is a few days with the grandparents, so we wanted to use this time to really clean up a bit!
I am happy with the result, some fresh flowers, toys in the baskets, fresh linen and it feels great.

Now, my only thought left is: what colour curtains should I get for our bedroom...? To be continued....

have a great week!

Off to France for a few days!

Just to say that we are going to France for a few days, to visit the in-laws and to enjoy some shopping and good food...
It's even warmer there than here, so packing is well, light. (although I always end up with more than I need, because I am a 'what if' person...)

Take care and enjoy your weekend!

refreshments anyone?

With the heat staying, my refreshments mainly consist of strawberries with or without cream, cherries, ice cream and lots of drinks.
Here are some pictures of our garden, small but cosy and big enough to have a BBQ and some evenings outside.

I am not really a garden person, but I love the feeling of flowers and plants around me, I love going to a garden centre and choosing lovely plants and flowers, it's just that mantaining a garden is quite a different thing and sometimes I just, let's say.... stick to an 'english garden'.... nice and full, things growing everywhere :-)

Wish you all a lovely sunday!

little treasure

Some time ago, I bought a these 2 gorgeous little antique books. The set of books is from 1809 and were a prize for french students studying english. The book is printed in paris.
I find it so fascinating to go through it's pages and to think who has been reading it, holding it and keeping it all these last 201 years...

For now it is too warm to keep blogging, so I will end this post by wishing you all a wonderful sunny weekend!

Laundry day

Today was one of those days, when your iron basket is so full that you can't ignore it any longer. So, that's just what I have been doing, laundry, ironing, and more ironing... I don't really mind to do some ironing, sometimes it's even therapeutic.
Beautiful products and nice packaging make doing laundry a bit nicer though!

Don't you love that scent of clean laundry, cupboards with neat piles of sheets and linens, all ready for use ?
I don't know about you, but I love to have crispy ironed bedsheets, it's just one of those little luxuries which makes a difference in your day.
Now, I am just happy it is sunday evening, and before starting the week, I'll enjoy a cup of tea.

quiet week

It's been a quiet week, did some sewing and managed to arrange some things here and there.
I made a lovely linen food cover, for keeping bread or cookies in, I have been very inspired by the book 'Esprit de Famille' so I try to make as many projects as I can from there.

Plants and books just make the picture complete, and for my birthday I received 'Forbidden Fruit' about the history of women and reading, so interesting! and it makes a beautiful coffee table book....

let's hope the sun won't leave us too early this summer and that we still can enjoy the outside a bit.
take care!

Here comes the sun....and some flowers too!

Finally some sunshine...How different the world can look with a bit of light. I have been making a pillow from a piece of fabric of Laura Ashley, which gives immediately more colour and gives a cottage feel.
The garden has been decorated with some flowers and I discovered the Laura Ashley garden collection, which is so lovely, the garden boots are so feminine and their gloves, aprons, it all makes you feel like working in de garden (even though my garden is not so big...).

We also bought a new bed, which makes me happy, since I wanted something completely different, first I opted for white but than I thought that a dark bed with a lot of white around, is also very elegant and special. So, now I am busy redecorating our bedroom, which is very nice.

Yesterday I found a new treasure which I will share soon with you, but for now I will continue with my home and wish you all a sunny day!
