just enough

On Saturday's I have a few things I like to do. These last months, I do groceries with my son at the local market, where I buy flowers, fresh bread, cut meats and a magazine of course. This is followed by a long lunch with delicious things and a new magazine with a hot coffee. Of course these afternoons are even better, when the sun is shining like today, and you feel spring is nearly there, even though it's still freezing!

So, fresh flowers in the vase, and I had so many flowers over, that I spread all little vases with flowers in there, even for the hallway and bedroom.
I am still thinking what to make of my beautiful Cabbages and Roses fabric, isn't the shade of green gorgeous?? I love it.
We also have our little bunnies on the windowsill, waiting for Easter.

Enjoy the weekend everybody!

house projects never end, luckily!

Yes,house projects are ongoing. Some of you might be stressed about that, but personally, I am happy that you can constantly update your home. Yesterday my significant other, put up some roller blinds. We have a huge kitchen window and it wasn't very practical to put some curtains made of delicate fabric, since we have our big stove next to the window. So, we chose a dark blue roller blind, which breaks the white kitchen a bit. I feel safer and happier.

I also got the new Countrystyle from Australia this week. It's my last issue, because each year I subscribe to a different foreign magazine. I have tried Vakre Hjem and Countrystyle, and Period Living UK, it's always great to get inspiration from all over the world. I am thinking what I will subscribe to this year, as my current subscription has nearly ended.

Here, I share some beautiful images of Countrystyle Australia.

special friday

Fridays are my favourite days, the day that I still have the entire weekend ahead of me, a day where I usually spend time doing some chores in the house or having a coffee with a friend. today my son is coming back after a week at the grandparents, so it's very special, I am so glad to hear his little voice and the noise again!
I ordered the home in these last days and while buying some curtains for my son's bedroom, I ran into this white can from Ikea. It is just what I was looking for. It also looks lovely with some flowers in it.

I am also looking at colours (again!) for my house, our bedroom is really a bit dull at the moment, and I would like to give a bit more colour and maybe try a different fabric here and there.
So, I am going through my Flamant colour card, they really have beautiful colours.

Wish you all a great weekend ahead,
Solange

quiet corners in my house

Today the house was quiet, our son left with his grandparents, which makes them and him very happy. The first moments we always feel a bit strange to have the house so quiet, but after a bit we really make the most of it, to do our things in the house which we usually don't have so much time for, like reading a good book, watching movie in the afternoon! or paint with my oilpaint, parents must know what I mean.... ;-)
I captured some corners in our house, that I see everyday, but which mean home for me.
The sign which reads 'atelier' was embroidered by myself, one of the biggest stitching projects I have done so far...I am a painter, more than anything, but I always believed that one should try different things, and I actually enjoy embroidery.

I wish you all an enjoyable sunday and take care.

Garden-party

My newest book is called 'garden-party by Cléophée de Turckheim. It's a french book and I could only order it by having it shipped to my family in France.
and a nice suprise it was...! full of wonderful pictures, lovely details, just what we 'home lovers' appreciate :-)
It makes you feel like organizing a party, or preparing a high tea for friends.

I have a cold at the moment, I couldn't miss it after my husband and son had it, so I am next and hope it will pass soon. It seems that something is going around here, so nothing else to do, than taking it easy.
Hope you all enjoy the end of the week.

back again, January is almost over...

I had taken a little blogging break, after the busy christmas period and the new year. January is not my favourite month and I had not so much inspiration. So when January is gone, I start to feel there is slowly more light outside and that the days seem longer.
But I received from visit this little basket with spring in it...which immediatly lightens up the livingroom. I also found (thanks to my sister!! ) a gorgeous old style post/correspondence box, which is great in combination with white. I am not sure if I will use it for our post/administration, maybe for nice cutlery, or anything else I come up with.
Sometimes it just takes one item, a colour, a magazine or a visit to an inspirational shop to get the inspiration back again. I am looking forward to let spring in, until then, I will just make some small changes.

have a good week girls!

Almost leaving...

Christmas is almost there, and here the packing has started, the presents are wrapped and the laundry is done... We are planning to go to my husband's family in France, planning, because we don't know, due to the bad weather conditions if it's possible to leave at all by car....
we are so looking forward to be all together, to share the joy with the grandparents and did I mention, I also really miss shopping in France? :-)

At home I haven't had much time for blog photos or for blogging in general, but I did read my favourite magazines and munched on lots of cookies and sweets!

Enjoy the holidays and take care girls!!
